I'm sewing--Burda #129 from 1/2009

I am making this blouse from a silk broadcloth and I think I am going to really like it. I have had to redo almost every step due to operator error, but I like the way it is turning out. I have to work in between sewing episodes, so maybe tomorrow there will be a photo!

keep on sewing!

Time?

Where does it go? We went to Reno to visit older son and his family--good time was had by all~ We skied, shopped, and just hung out. I even sewed a bit--I repaired my DGS's favorite sleeping bag. It's a bear that folds up into a back pack. It had been well worn and needed some repairing. It wasn't pretty sewing, but it will now last for a while longer.

We are home now. I worked yesterday and today we went to another DGS's 5th birthday party. No sewing for that occasion--he has enough clothing for himself and his younger brother for the year!!! But, it was also fun and we enjoy getting to see the kids and their friends.

Tomorrow--SEWING day! I have a couple of project ideas I want to try to get done.

I love reading other people's blogs--lots of lovely creations and clever adaptations of patterns I'd like to try!

Wadder

I finally got time to work on the Burda tunic--nope! I only need to hem the sleeves and the bottom of the tunic, but I'm done. I chose a light weight woven fabric and it looks like a scrub top--not what I'd hoped for. So, now to move on to something else.

Yesterday was the middle grand son's birthday--five already! We went out to lunch and all 3 kids got peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Funny!

I'll be back soon with a project that works--I have some fabric I really like and hope to make something I'll like from it!

Easter Embroidery

Here are some sideways photos of the t shirts I embroidered for my youngest 3 grand kids for Easter picnics. The two boys' shirts are the same, and my DGD's shirt is a girl's shirt with a seasonal design. She can wear it to school after the holiday.

I am off for a week, so I hope to sew this week!

Quick Update!

No sewing--we have been in CA to visit my dad and catch up on some condo maintenance, etc. We did sneak in a half day at Disneyland with my sister and her grandson as well as a volunteer day at the Aquarium of the Pacific. We drove home early today and will leave in an hour or so to spend the weekend with friends in Utah. It is nice to have places to go and people to see, but it does not get any sewing done. I still have 2 tunics cut and ready to sew from the 2/2009 issue.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I'm back to work on Monday but will finish my tops during the week!

Blouse is Done!

Here's the Burda blouse that was in progress. Sleeves are too long, but I'm just going to move the button on the cuff!

I like it and wore it to work today.
The back is sort of angled, but that is my stance, not the shirt!

Burda Bonanza!

Two repeats and one a work in progress--but some sewing!

The brown shirt is the same as the Burda 109 from 1/2009--it is a relatively heavy stretch woven with some nice texture to the threads that create the stripes. I bought it last spring from Anne at Needlenook Fabrics. It is certainly easier to make the pattern a second time. This will be a lightweight shirt/jacket. The t shirt is yet another of the 108 from 2/2009. I made a black one too but it must be in the laundry!

Finally, the white shirt is the one from the cover of 2/2009. I really love the skirt too, but it's a Burberry and out of my price range! The shirt is a work in progress--needs hem, buttons, and button holes. I had SO much trouble with the collar that it took me at least 5 tries to get it right! Some dumb mistakes, some misunderstanding of the Burda directions, and some just needed to make it better moves! I will finish this shirt tonight or tomorrow.
You can see that I took the photos--and don't have any photo software back on the computer after it had to be rebuilt. Sorry for the sideways orientation!

I am enjoying the AP position, but really realize that I do not want to be a full time employee again. I feel useful, I feel worthwhile, and I feel a bit frazzled too!
Back to sewing and a little time to enjoy our beautiful weather today!

I need to finish the blouse so I can work on two light weight tunics I have cut out. The temperature is supposed to be in the 80's next week so I need some cool outfits for school!

Here's hoping I can post the photos now!
