Hello!
I have been out of town for a wonderful 5 days with my high school girlfriends--how lucky we are to still love to spend time with each other! Lots of fun and laughter. I'll be back with some sewing photos soon! I have a princess dress to make for a school presentation for older DGD! Fun for Grandma!

Something for Everyone...
Well, maybe not, but finally something for my older DGD. These are tops made from a McCall's "Stuff" by Hilary Duff pattern #5445. These are a size 10 and I hope they fit! I also made the t shirt on the cover, but no photo of that today. Fabrics are quilting cottons from JoAnn and Hancocks Fabric stores.

A Photo Collection
Second try--I'm having trouble with Blogger not saving the post for editing...Hmmm. So, please excuse the typos and spelling errors!
There are 4 photos I want to post. One is the pair of shorts I posted about yesterday. NOT my favorites. Not modeled--just propped against my trusty Bernina sewing machine to help them stand up :>) I will wear them, but they won't be the first thing I reach for.
Then there are 2 photos from my Sandra Betzina seminar day. Nope, none of Sandra or her garments, although that was a wonderful day! The photos are of Nikki, my internet sewing friend, and another of Nikki and me. We had a fun day listening to Sandra and getting to know one another better!
Finally, a photo I searched for of my sons when they were 3 and 5 1/2. I made the outfits for a friend's wedding. Many stories of how I tortured the boys by making them wear Toughskins and funny vests end up with the red suits I made. I still say they are cute! Now my grands are this age.

Frustration!
I did some sewing for myself the past few days--mostly ended up with wadders. Wadded up and thrown away. UGH
I made some Vogue shorts, size 12. Bad fit. I know now that I need to cut on the shorten/lengthen line and lengthen the body of the shorts about one inch. So, the NEXT pair may fit correctly, but the ones I made are a waste.
I went through my UFOs and threw out two pairs of pants I thought I could wear "some day." Nope. They were too tight when I started and now they are too big. OUT.
I did finally make a pair of shorts using a pants pattern from Burda WOF--just cut the legs off and hemmed them. Well, I cut them out shorter, turned under 4inches and made a cuff by folding 2 inches back up. Maybe I'll take a photo--maybe not. They are out of stashed fabric and not my favorite.
Now, I have some things to make for DGD number ONE.
I feel better. Vented.
I did have a great experience yesterday. Sandra Betzina was in town for a presentation sponsored by our local ASG. The event even sparked me to join ASG. A longtime internet friend was in town with her husband, so I picked her up at her hotel (first face-to-face meeting :>) and off we went to the event. VERY inspiring--great ideas, a chance to try on garments to size the SB Vogue patterns, and a delicious lunch with other sewists all around.
Not a bad end to the week :>)

Girly Stuff Again!
Here are photos of the latest projects!
I am having a horrible time getting this post to save--this is the third try!
First, my version of the Rose Dress from Ottobre Design 01/08. Leggings are from 01/07 Ottobre. Both are size 104--leggings length 98. Fabric for the dress is from Chez Amie bought from Fabric.com last year.
Second is my repurposing project--a pair of pants that are now too big for me was remade into a pair of Candy Pants for my DGD. Also from Ottobre 01/08. The embellishments are scraps from the tshirt shown in the previous post--a version of the Hug T shirt from Ottobre 01/08 as well.
Finally, the muslin for the white leggings--a pair of orange check leggings made from PRR fabric from my stash. Fun sewing.
Now I need to sew for my other DGD who will soon be 12! Yikes!
